Flexible and Customizable Reporting Options
|
 |
Several flexible reporting options within ELM provide you detailed visibility of your systems' critical health and status data. The Results container in the ELM Console contains the results of monitoring and management activities that have been configured in the form of Alerts, Event Views, Performance Data and Reports.
Here you can view:
- Event Views - Events grouped by filters that are dynamically updated as new events occur. Create new views with powerful filtering to meet your exact needs.
- Alerts - the Event Views which provide a mechanism for grouping events into a view that match one or more filters.
- Performance Data - Displays performance counter definitions and the most recent data collected by Performance Collectors.
- ELM Publisher - Preconfigured management reports available thorough the ELM Console or the ELM Web Viewer.
- ELM Editor - Access hundreds of sample reports that can be customized to meet your exact needs or use the SQL Query Builder to create your own.

Preconfigured Reporting with ELM Publisher
| ELM Publisher produces management reports from information collected by your ELM Server. ELM Publisher comes with an automated feature that adds monitoring to systems within agent categories based on the reports you want to generate. This makes it easy to assign a report to specific system categories and also makes sure the monitor items needed to collect the date that produce the reports are in place.
The ELM Publisher reporting module is integrated with both the ELM Console (shown below) and the ELM Web Viewer, enabling you to use it in both user interfaces; the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) and/or Microsoft Internet Explorer. ELM Publisher provides very intuitive point and click functionality for configuring, scheduling, viewing, and distributing reports.
If reports are being distributed for the first time to a new group of end users who have not seen the report before, there is a handy glossary of terms at the bottom of each report that is a very helpful to explain what all of the columns and headers are in the data they are viewing. |

Custom Reporting with ELM Editor
ELM Editor is a powerful reporting engine for building custom reports. It includes a number of sample reports preconfigured and ready to use right out of the box. In addition, any View you have setup within the ELM Console can be quickly converted into a report by simply dragging and dropping the View into the ELM Editor reports container or by right clicking on the View and selecting the option to create a new custom report.
ELM Editor includes a query builder in a graphical environment that allows the creation of SQL queries and selection of charts, datagrids, and graphs. Each report can have multiple sections so that datagrids, charts and .html can be combined to present information in an infinite variety of ways. For those who are proficient in SQL queries, you can write your own SQL text right within the ELM Editor query builder, test and preview them before building your reports. ELM Editor uses ASP.Net to produce and manage reports.
ELM Editor custom reports can be viewed through the ELM Console under the Results container. Reports may be saved or printed and scheduling reports allows you to run them at regular intervals and deliver those via email, to a file, or to a database.
Note: Best viewed at 1280x1024 or higher monitor resolution and browser maximized to full screen.
